Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be the biggest indoor theme park in the world

There’s no doubting Ferrari has a legion of fans, but are their numbers great enough to justify the existence of a Ferrari theme park? Looks like we’ll get an answer with the world’s first such park, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, set to open its doors this October. Although, with the more than 20 rides and attractions including a spaceshot tower that launches riders 62m (203 ft) into the air and the world’s fastest roller coaster that propels thrill-seekers to speeds of 240 km/h (149mph) in just five seconds, the park is sure to appeal to those whose allegiance lies with other supercar marquees. Some are so heavily design-oriented that they don't resemble anything in the automaker's current stable, and probably never will. Features like touch screens running along the entire dashboard and cameras for side-view mirrors may only show up when we get flying cars.

Others do presage technologies slated for production cars. Most of these concepts are specified to run on some sort of hybrid power train, and two of those hybrid power trains will find their way into production cars within in the next two years.

The wildest technology comes from Mercedes-Benz. Called Traffic Jam Assist, this feature will accelerate, brake, and steer the car under 25 mph.

BMW hopes new 5-series will revitalise the brand

Sixth-generation BMW 5-series on display at the Geneva motor show

No other model on display at the Geneva motor show means as much to its marque as the sixth-generation 5-series - with the obvious exception of small manufacturers with only one or two models in their arsenal.

Getting the 5-series right is crucial for BMW as it is the biggest single contributor to the company's bottom line.

Get it wrong and the world's largest luxury car maker will almost certainly be knocked back from the top spot by its chief rivals, Mercedes and Audi.

But the 5-series is more than simply a driver of sales across the BMW marque. It is also much more profitable than its siblings.

It costs roughly the same to make the more expensive 5-series as it costs to make the cheaper 3-series; in essence, it is much harder to make decent profit margins from small cars.

Mr Robertson is eager to dismiss the myth that the 5-series accounts for more than 50% of the BMW Group's profits, even though it accounts for just 25% of sales.

But he acknowledges that it contributes "a significant proportion" - though one that is gradually being reduced as the group's UK Mini and Rolls-Royce subsidiaries continue to grow, and as the BMW marque's own model line-up is extended.

why an Iphone 4 is a bad idea

Most of the problems associated with living in Apple's walled garden are still not fixed. You are still too dependant on having Steve Jobs decide what you can download and when. Since Jobs thinks that Adobe Flash is bad and won't allow it on Apple devices, you can't see half of what's out on the web.

Steve Jobs, the Liberace of the tech world, showed off the latest Iphone 4 smartphone with the idea that it will replace his stonklingly successful 3G gizmo. However here are ten reasons why buying an Iphone 4 is not a good idea.

The Good and Bad about the iPad

           http://www.awidernet.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/ipad--221x300.jpg

Nearly everybody has heard about the iPad, but not many people have really considered buying it, even after they come out. This is mostly because your first thought when you think about something like the iPad is how expensive ($800-$1000) it is going to be. But "money talks" and after you hear the price, you may rethink your options. It is only $499.00, and 9.56 inches x 7.47 inches.
The good side of the iPad is that many people can afford it on nearly any budget. It is actually less expensive than many of the computers out there that you would think about buying. The iPad is definitely a major jump in technology today. What is even better is that the iPad is making Apple have competitions for it's prices. This will lead to the general decrease in price in almost all of the Apple products. Which means that the consumers will be getting better and better deals.
The iPad still has some downfalls to it as well, such as no USB, no camera, no SD card, and so on. It is stripped down to the basic needs, which leaves it pretty bare. There are no extra accessories that people would like on it. This is probably what led to the low price.
The iPad will soon be out and ready for the world to explore. Once people get a chance to look at it there will be news of what they like or dislike. From there, you will be able to decide whether you want the iPad or not.

GPS Safety

GPS Safety

Would you agree that GPS units share the same reputation for distraction as texting?
Almost any in-car device can potentially steal a driver's attention away from the road if the driver allows it to, there's little reason to worry about the hazards of navigation devices in particular. As long as they're properly manufactured and installed and drivers take some common-sense precautions to avoid danger.
Common car distractions can lead to extremely dangerous accidents that may result in serious injury or even death. While on the road, all drivers need to practice safety procedures. The reason why GPS's are now being considered so dangerous is because just like maps, some require the driver to take their eyes off of the road so that they can tell where to go next. Most of the GPS navigation systems are voice operated, so that you do not have to constantly look back at them. It usually says "Turn left at the next street," and so on. It makes GPS systems in the car much easier to deal with, and I would recommend the voice operated ones to all who are willing to buy a GPS. Still, if you want to be completely safe with a GPS in your car you should have it already set up at the destination that you need to go with before you get on the road. This way you will not be typing in your destination at the stoplight, which will prevent you from getting distracted easily. People in your passenger seats can tell you where to go, or as it is also known, "be your eyes" on the GPS to tell you where to go next. This will give you all concentration on the street.
If you still want GPS's to be legal, try and make it safe and easy for all. Don't ruin something that many people may need to use.

Arguments on Google Book System

Arguments on Google Book System

Google  effort to create the world’s largest digital library on the Internet told a federal judge in Manhattan on Thursday, Marc Mauer, president of the National Federation of the Blind, said the audio capabilities of Google’s system “will give us access to 10 million books.”

Google’s proposed settlement offers “woefully inadequate compensation” for “unknown and undisclosed uses,” said the lawyer, Andrew Devore.

Judge Denny chin of Federal District Court in Manhattan has already read more than 500 submissions about Google’s $125 million settlement that was meant to end two 2005 lawsuits trying to stop the company from scanning books into an online database.

In court papers submitted last week, Google, which is based in Mountain View, Calif., defended its deal with authors by saying its digital library lives up to the purpose of copyright law, which is to create and distribute expressive works. France and Germany, which oppose the settlement, noted they support a European book-scanning project, Europeans, because it is in compliance with their laws and requires permission from copyright holders before books are scanned.

Obtaining permission beforehand is what Amazon.com said it did when it engaged in a similar book-scanning  project. Amazon’s  lawyers oppose the Google settlement, along with Microsoft and Yahoo.

Pneumonia and the body's response p13

Norepinephrine best meets the tissue perfusion needs for the septic patient without making organ ischemia worse. It improves the blood pressure as well. It should be given in the range of 0.01 – 5 µg/kg/minute. Other vasoactive agents to consider are dopamine, epinephrine, phelylephrine, and vasopressin. In addition, dobutamine has been shown to significantly increase cardiac output in septic patients. When norepinephrine is not enough, adding dobutamine has been proven to greatly improve oxygen supply to the tissues (Stanchina & Levy 2004). The central venous oxygen saturation should also be maintained above 70%. This can be measured from the central venous line and represents the oxygen saturation of the blood returning from the capillary beds. Again, adequate oxygen delivery and dobutamine infusion will improve the central venous oxygen saturation, which is a direct indicator of tissue perfusion (Filbin 2008).

An additional therapy to consider is the administration of Activated Protein C. It inhibits the mediators thought to stimulate the inflammatory response. It also inhibits microvascular thrombi formation. Activated Protein C levels have been shown to be low in patients with sepsis (Filbin 2008).

The patient must be constantly monitored for other organ dysfunction in the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, clotting mechanisms, and pulmonary system (Porth 2005). Hypotension must be corrected promptly through the correction of fluid imbalance and vasopressors. Also, electrolyte imbalances and acid base imbalances must be corrected promptly. In severe cases, a pulmonary artery catheter may need to be inserted to assess fluid status. Previously mentioned nursing actions for monitoring the patient for urine output and fluid overload should be meticulously continued (Chulay & Burns 2006). The patient should also be watched closely for the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Ventilatory support should be maintained as addressed earlier and blood gases frequently monitored. The nurse should frequently assess the respiratory rate, lung sounds, and oxygenation status. Increased respiratory rate, increased breathing effort, profound hypoxemia and hypercapnia are symptoms of ARDS and should be addressed immediately (Porth).
